The forecast seems to change by the hour - yesterday metcheck showed a dry, almost windless day on Sunday. Today it's showing pouring rain all day and the wind's blowing from the south.

I think we'll find out on the day what the weather'll be like. Just so long as my cold doesn't develop into pneumonia on the day

(doses self up with yet more paracetamol and wishes raw throat would go away)

A Michele Ferrari for me then, preferably delivered before the big day.

Don't pay any attention to the weather forecast. Seriously it's a load of old cobblers. What happens on the day happens. C'est la vie!

Bad luck Goo. A gentle cycle in plenty of fresh air is what you need.

The Mrs is still waiting on her pack btw...

Aaaaaaaaargghhhhhh - I've got a horrible cold  Thanks to all of those kind souls who've been coming to work with it and sneezing all over the place, I've been struck down. I could kill them, I really could. My throat started feeling sore mid-afternoon, and by 7 it was really swollen and painful and then someone turned a tap on in my nose.

I'm going to take a day or two off to recover, and unless I'm so ill I can't get out of bed, I'll be on my bike on Sunday with you all. You may have to keep clear when I yell "SNOT ROCKET LAUNCHING IN 5....4....3....2....1", as I may be quite congested

Goo,

Take it easy. I had a really nasty bug a month or so back, I hope it isn't that. Fingers crossed. However, if it turns out nasty, don't be too daft. It's only a wee bike ride, we can always arrange our own one!

MrPig  (you have your own smiley!),

Can I have mine in red?

I'll find out tomorrow if my pack has arrived......

Meeting place

At last I received my pack (no T-shirt, I have to collect that at the end!).

I am 1379. So if any bus drivers out there are looking for me.....

How about this as a meeting place http://maps.google.com/maps/ms?ie=UTF&msa=0&msid=102173482088954599780.000456a3bd098795a0fd7

We could arrange to meet here between 9:00 and 9:15am and then head towards the start. How does that sound?

My wife has developed a cold, so she will be sleeping in the spare room until Sunday.....:wacko:

Excuse me ??

SHE will be sleeping in the spare room ?

Whatever happened to gentlemanly conduct/ looking after the fairer s*x/ "in sickness and in health" etc etc.

Now, if YOU were to sleep in the spare room, any mini-magnatoms who need anything in the night will automatically go to "Dad(dy) & Mum(my)'s room", thereby giving you the full night's kip, all the while earning lots of 'cycling points' ;)

I wish! I think my wife would surgically connect the baby monitor to me if she could...

Anyway, Dayvo has agreed to do the nightshifts when he is here, haven't you Dayvo...

Oh, I forgot to say, I will be bringing my camera after all. My new camera comes with a battery which should allow it to film most or all of the ride. I thought it would be nice to edit the highlights to produce a wee video. Something positive for a change (hopefully!)

Of course if anyone from cyclechat who is there would prefer to remain out of the video just let me know.

Before you ask, my camera is waterproof!:biggrin::becool:

Well I hope the BBC forecast I just seen on the news tonight is accurate, if so it'll be dry or nearly dry all of the way, maybe a spot of rain at the start.

OK - see you at the big pointy thing (possibly along with a thousand other people looking to meet up with their pals before the start :becool:) between 9 and 9.15. I'll also give you a ring when I arrive so you know I'm around.

Feeling better today - still full of mucus and phlegm, so you might get lots of nose blowing / snot rockets / docker's omlettes on camera which you'll need to edit out...

I gave the bike a wash this afternoon since I had nothing better to do, so it's looking its best for the video (sadly there's no way to make me look good - I'm beyond help). I just hope the creaky seatpost isn't too bad since it made a comeback again last week and despite cleaning / regreasing, was still a bit noisy.

Personally, I think the video could involve a little research amongst the cycling public - you could ask random entrants if they've heard of Cyclecraft as we pedal along the road :biggrin::biggrin: (I just want to hear you say it once on the day, just to put the icing on the cake !!)

And Dayvo, are you remembering your wallet for the first round in the pub afterwards ? It'll only take 5 minutes to get there from the finish and we'll all be keen to slake our thirst

will try to meet you at that place but Goo is right it will be busy and I've got to drop the kids off and pick up my Dad first, so I suspect we may be late. But we will try...
