I'm currently using a similar Shimano SPD pedal to this one on my CX bike >>>>

But when I get a road bike (Carbon) I'm considering something like the Ultegra or Time carbons >>>>

Will I need to buy specific road shoes to use the carbon pedals or will I be able to replace the SPD cleats in my current shoes, with something that will fit the road pedals ?

Ideally and funds allowing, I think would prefer to have a separate pair of shoes for each bike, otherwise I could change the pedals on the crosser to suit the road shoes, but then I'd still need SPD for the mountain bike.

Short answer...yes, new shoes*. The middle ones are Shimano SPD-SL with 3 bolts, and the time ones will also need 3 bolts.

The top ones are shimano SPD with 2 bolts.

*Unless your curent shoes have the 2 and 3 bolt holes on the soles like these...
