pedalling with one foot more than the other

whilst trying to determine what is making a 'needs attention' noise from my crank region. I noticed that the paint on the left pedal is more worn than the right pedal. I also noticed that the bearings in the left pedal are slightly looser than the right pedal. In fact the right pedal is like new (apart from the odd chip in the paint) and they've been on for 10 years.

I'm left handed and left footed, but have never before considered that i pedal more with one leg than the other.

am i just a freak?

Are both cranks the same length? ;)

But which foot do you put down the most at lights? I know I've worn cleats out on my right shoe but there again that's the foot I habitually stand on at the lights so that's the side that gets all the on-and-off action. It's definitely not my stronger foot though: like you, I'm left-handed and left-footed.

I have just started using a Kickbike and I was very surprised to find out that my left leg is much more dominant than my right leg. I have never noticed it when riding my road bike.

I am right handed.

I'm predominantly left footed and that's the foot that goes down when I stop. Also noticed when out of the saddle on a climb a light cracking noise from the bottom bracket area when I'm on the downward push, on the left. When I sit down, it stops! There's no play in the cranks whatsoever.

I try to concentrate (when straining up hill) to make my feet go in a circle. That is push back in all directions. I need to think about this and concentrate to get the best from this.

When I do this I find my pedalling rate increases as does my speed. I can't keep this up for long, I wish I could.

I'll try again tomorrow and I'll try to concentrate for longer.
