Why do they do it?

You see them on the TV running alongside and pointing their cameras against the blacked out windows...do they do it just to look like pillocks?

If you're a press staff photographer and you get sent to the job, you have to do everything to get the shot.

If you're a freelancer - if you get the shot and you put it onto the wire fast enough it may mean the difference from meeting your costs for the month or scraping the cash together.

It's funny that you should mention that because I was just thinking that myself, watching the news this evening. There was one shot where the TV camera actually did get a glimpse inside the van through the blacked out window when a flash went off so it is definitely possible to get a picture of the accused.

But do we, the public, really need to see a photo of an accused person, no matter what they are supposed to have done to get into trouble in the first place!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I agree with Keith on this...but the prurient public and, perhaps, (not the bigger) picture editors are happy to part with cash...

I agree with Keith as well but Aperitif has it in one-picture editors drive this on some squiffy idea about sales that sometimes seems like it's plucked out of the air
