Having a fag has always meant something different on this side but has now gone up in smoke.
Does 'tanner' still have any currency?

Ditto, I don't think we'll hear faggot referring to food or wood anymore.

I only know tanner as someone exposing their skin to UV rays or someone working with leather. If there is another definition, my guess is it's on the way out.

Edit: ah, a sixpence. No, totally gone from my knowledge. I would understand, but never say myself, "mad as a 2 bob watch" but no, not a tanner. If I thought they were talking about money, I'd assume they had mispronounced tenner.
