Good evening

I've heard great things about this place, it's at Box Hill and Westhumble Station, I ride a Dawes Galaxy and I believe they're a Dawes specialist.

Anyway, I'm thinking of cycling there from Brighton tomorrow and wondered if anyone had been there and could let me know what it's like.

Also if anyone has been from Brighton, are there any nice routes to take otherwise I'll be using the iPad maps and sticking to minor roads.

Thanks in advance

Hopefully someone with direct experience will pop up, but in the meantime they have a decent website:

http://pilgrim-cycles.co.uk

and there's a write-up on:

http://westsurreyctc.co.uk/blogs/pilgrim-cycles-new-cycle-shop-cafe-at-westhumble-station/

they also have a Strava Club:

http://www.strava.com/clubs/pilgrim-cycles-51395?hl=en-GB

which might be worth joining for routes etc (don't know I'm not a Strava user)

Sorry, only just seen this. I will vouch for their friendliness in a slightly old style way - enjoy your tea and flapjack in amongst gorgeous steel frames, mudguards and racks, even a vintage tandem, whilst gossiping with the friendly proprietors, who are quite likely to be adjusting someone else's bike in the middle of the tea area while talking to you. Dawes, Surly and now Spa (a new departure for Spa to be appointing regional stockists?) are their core stock, plus their own brand (which I believe are Bob Jackson frames made up beautifully).

No trip to the area is complete without a cycle up either Ranmore or Box Hill (or both).

I did, thanks. There was a fair bit of A24 in the route I took, which wasn't pleasant, but a nice first ride of the new year overall. The bike shop is a tourer's paradise, Dawes especially, and they do great home made cakes, too!

Here's the route;

Yep, I got to it by a copy & paste of the original post then deleted the gobbledegook after the activity number to get the right activity.
