Scrogg Road in Newcastle. Both for the name and the road itself, which runs through some very grim areas.

We stopped at this place in Bavaria, on the way back from a skiing holiday in Austria sometime in the early Eighties. Just to pose for a photo by the road sign. View attachment 403420

Edit: The road sign was always being being nicked by people like me, as a trophy. The locals got fed up. I think they used seriously industrial "tamper-proof" fixings later.

My school boy humour likes to see the L painted out in Welcome.

It reminds me of a sign for “coarse fishing” that some scamp has changed by painting out the CO and changing the H to a T.

Here in Hong Kong the very popular character for prosperity is pronounced Fook.

Hence my neighbours live in Fook Hing Court, and we regularly eat out at the Fook Kiu restaurant or the Ho Lee Fook restaurant.

They obviously got a great sense of humour
