I've never been there, but from the name I'd assume the Dark Satanic Mills tower over the fetit slums of the downtrodden cholera ridden serfs, and that is just the nice bits!

Here in Hong Kong the very popular character for prosperity is pronounced Fook.

Hence my neighbours live in Fook Hing Court, and we regularly eat out at the Fook Kiu restaurant or the Ho Lee Fook restaurant.

To the right of Farnworth train station is..............Nob End.
I've been there! One of the Chorlton Wanderers rides went there a couple of years ago. Some of the paths and roads were rather muddy but it was quite unspoilt. Loads of dragonflies in the disused canal.
I think the ride leader was attracted by the name.

It was named because if all the pollution.

Another town with an odd name is Sutton Coldfield. I presume it’s a bit like Sutton in south London, only colder and more rural.

Interesting. Google StreetView just informed me that Les Tourettes is a bus stop in the commune of Les Tourrettes. I wonder if one of them is a typo, or if it's some very subtle meaning difference that only the French would know?

I think maybe you have the wrong commune. This is a hamlet in the commune of Saint Mathieu, Haute-Vienne, not the one in the Drôme. :okay:

I do like the way the googlemonster always assumes you are spelling something incorrectly
