When using a vehicle you have to take into account the probable behaviour of other road users.

The probable behaviour of pedestrians is that they will cross the road without checking for traffic.

So you have to watch out for them and be prepared slow down or stop if necessary.

As a cyclist or motorist it is your responsibility not to endanger anyone else, even the doziest of dozy pedestrians.

Perhaps we could have a new word for them - ipodians.

Count how many of these pedestrians look out for oncoming traffic.

As I passed I advised them they might want to check for traffic...

Wow.

Well, at least they are doing it on pedestrian crossings rather than just randomly in the middle of the road.

I would have said from the location (Embankment?) that they are mostly tourists, but many seem to be city types!
