After years of camping all over UK and Europe with the family, the kids have disowned us (aged 13 and 16) and now do not want to set foot in a tent.

I have started my own business and really cannot take block of time off at this stage so was thinking that a few long weekends would be easy to sort both for work and leaving the kids with Grandparent cover.

Then fitting this in with GCSE timetables and various other commitments we may be into September and lets face it we have had summer already.

Somehow the Caravan option bubbled to the surface and I went and got it yesterday. Cant wait to get the bikes in the back and get away somewhere now.

We used to have weekends away in a caravan when I was younger. Loved it.

If I had kids of my own, I would probably get one.

We use a trailer for the tent etc and bikes so halfway there.

I'd a camper van once, air cooled VW, very old. Top speed 60mph. Used to love holding the caravans up in the Lake District.

It was a bit more that the £500 start price (he pulled it off ebay and took my offer as I wanted to do the deal there and then).
Budget was tight and we looked at a few rough old vans that were horrid. This one is 14 years old but has actually only been used a couple of times and is just like new.

I thought I should get some new tyres though!

This is posher than my house! They are really smart now. Central heating and all mod cons.
