please wish me luck for tomorrow

tomorrow I attempt my longest ever ride and am going to need all the luck I can get.

I have never, ever ridden over 89 miles. Have only managed 82 miles so far this year, however a cycling buddy of mine (former cc'er) has convinced me I am capable of managing that magic mark... an imperial century. I did an metric one earlier this week in record time (as part of a commute) but I think this one is leaving me a touch worried.

We meet up an hour away from home at 7am... so I have to be on my bike by 6am (gulp)....

You wouldn't be attempting it if you didn't think you could do it now would you?

Jeez, I hope this wind has dropped for you by then. A ton in these conditions would be worth 150 ordinarily, IMO.

Changed hemispheres!
Bike has been cleaned, lubed, checked over and just removed the mudguards and pannier rack. Tyre pressures are next on the list. Brake pads are fine... tyres are new around 500 miles ago and I just need to decide if I am taking my camera with me or really travelling light? If I take the camera, then sandwiches have to go in my back pocket along with inhalers and some gels/dairy free bars, because I can only just squeeze the camera, inner tube, some more dairy free bars, tyre levers (yes I know), and multitool kit plus money into my saddle bag. Then I need to think about the phone or do I leave my cycling buddy to that?

Do I sound nervous?

Don't rush. Don't forget to stop for cake - at least twice!
I understand that there are at least potential 5 café stops along this route. Shame I can't have any cake!

yep - me too. It was originally meant to have been today! Sunshine and windy conditions are not my ideal conditions. Forecast is for light cloud and much lower winds thankfully! Luckily as my cycling buddy puts it, his 17 stone can be used to shield me from some of the wind if needed!
