Pocket Allen key tool

Loads of these sets on line. Is there a stand out tried and trusted go to set for you guys? Light weight and pocket sized obviously. Or, rather than order one on line, do Halfords do any good sets?

I think I have a Top Peak one, it has every thing I think you’d need even tyre levers. It’s currently in my saddle bag and hasn’t seen light of day for sometime fortunately.
But I’ve probably just jinxed that.😳

My current multi tool of choice is the one that came with the Lidl mini saddle bag in late June, because it has a T25 bit for my ebike's mount points and a large hex key for the non-standard hex axle bolt sizes.

IIRC the whole bundle was less than five squids, came with some self adhesive patches too.

Don't be tempted to go for the equivalent of a monster Swiss army knife. If your not careful you'll end up with a massive multitool that most of it isn't relevant for yor your bike or is awkward to use.

I do carry a small multi tool, but always carry a couple of normal Allen keys, that are relevant to my bike. Don't think I've ever user the multi tool, but carry it with me in case something on there is useful.

I’ve got the same, even has a chain splitting tool, like yours never been used!

Mine has been used. I once helped a guy who put his rear mech in to his wheel and ripped it off. I helped turn it in to a single speed with use of my spare quick link and said tool. He didn’t even say thanks.

That’s a hard question. Most tools fit in a pocket but some are more comfortable carried there than others.

I seem to have accumulated a small collection over the years. In the main I have a leaning towards Lezyne. I like the quality and the choice. My son swears by his Crank Brothers tool (he’s a mountain biker). It’s sturdy, has good leverage and quality seems good. However I think it’s a little bit heavy for the number of functions.

There is a sweet spot in size. I have one Lezyne that has a lot of tools on it and I realise I rarely take it out. Too much for a local ride and if I’m on a long distance ride I’m more likely to take a collection of different tools to complement a smaller multi tool.

I like proper hex/allen & Torx keys, you don’t need many, proper tyre levers are a must and a Lezyne Multi Chain Pliers, much better than a multi tool that invariably includes a lot of poor functionality that you won’t ever need.

I have an excellent pocket tool somewhere. Meanwhile I am using one that I cobbled together til my good one surfaces 🤔
