I hope when you attend court in your cheap Burton's suit your shoes are highly polished that the shine catches the Benches eye. Don't put them on the edge of the dock or court room table what ever you do. That would be as good as poking the magistrate in the eye indicating you have no remorse. You could wear some nice brogues with two tone black and white uppers just like a little gangsta ..........
erm....... is that meant to be funny? Thanks for being so understanding of my concern, you are outstanding! I aim to respect everyones feeling, you obviously don't. You don't know me and you never will, so don't go and make assumptions about me. People like you are the lowest of the low on the internet, you are rude and ignorant, just try to respect people please. It's fairly obvious i'm in an anxious mood at the moment, things like this will set me off, probably what you wanted but hey. It seems you are delighted to se me in distress, you obviously look at me as a person who deserves to be treated with. Thats fine, it's your opinion, i can count the number of times i have traveled by train in this country on two hands, have never caused any trouble, work for a local homeless charity every summer and have done so for 4 years, so don't generalise me into a category of person you believe i fall into, certainly don't call me a 'Gangsta'. And for the record i don't own a suit from Burton, why would i?

And having previously posted an understanding response to your OP of your misdemeanour and subsequent brush with authority, I have now decided you deserve everthing you get. Just remember to mind your manners and keep your feet off neighbouring seats where ever you sit yourself down ............

I am in a volatile mood at the moment, i can't remember every post previously posted in this thread. Your post did not appear to be said in jest, i do apologise if it was but thing like that are likely to set me off, I'm worrying everyday about this issue so please forgive me when it appears someone is tacking the mickey.

To me this seems a classic example of when a fixed penalty fine would the best option all round. £100 would be a serious deterent (with no ambiguity if on signs) and a fair amount of 'ouch' factor for most people without it resulting in a criminal record or taking up police resources. I'd equate it with peeing in the street which I think gets you an £80 one.

We are talking about Merseyside, the part of the country that is the 'victim' and seems disinclined to accept responsibility for their actions. So I am not surprised at the defence being presented by our Liverpool members. A person doing wrong is always the innocent victim being bullied by Big Brother.

Roll on scottish independence.

Darkstar isn't from Liverpool or Merseyside. He's a student here. I'm from Merseyside - that isn't Liverpool, BTW, Liverpool is just one part of merseyside.

I'm not a victim, nor is my wife, nor is my son. Neither are my family, or the people that I work with, or the people who I deal with in my day to day work as a nurse. Most of Merseysides inhabitants are not victims. Most are day to day people who earn a crust, and the fact that Merseyside has some of the most deprived wards in England has more to do with the decline in industry & shipping than it does the inhabitants of the county.

I'm not defending Darkstar or his actions, I feel sorry for him because he is not a local and wouldn't know the publicity surrounding this issue a couple of years ago, as a regular user of Merseyrail I've already said that the network is better now than it has been.

You're knocking your head against a brick wall with him, mate. He couldn't wait to display his ignorant prejudice with that one.

Why would you say something like that? Do you know the implications involved with having a conviction?
I am seriously worried and will not be able to relax for the next 3 weeks, please don't take the piss.

I can't think of much to be worried about to be honest. It's a caution and won't prevent entry to any country that I think of or stop your admission to any postgrad courses or prevent you working with children.

Look on the bright side - cautions are free, fixed penalties are not.

To be honest, the young fellow has made a mistake and admitted it. His bigger mistake was to admit it onto an open forum. The amount of character assassination and opprobrium that has come his way is unpleasant and unnecessary IMHO.
I did some reckless and anti-social things in my youth but I'd be loth to fess up on here for fear of a public flogging and stoning.

A caution will NOT stop someone getting a job. A caution alone is just a small issue. No employer would bar employment on the strength of you putting your feet on some seats once. Make a habit of it, and you'll get more than a caution (desrevedly). It also (and the spectre of getting it) has made you realise there are consequences in life.

13 pages, and still the message isn't getting through to you, is it?

You did something wrong and now you, as an adult, have to accept responsibility for your actions, and move on. Please start to display at least some of the alleged intelligence you needed to get into university in the first place.

Now accept the comments, good and bad, use them and this incident as a learning experience and get over it.

There's no guarantee of sympathy in this forum and to be honest I wouldn't expect there to be.

The original poster has made a mountain out of a molehill. The consequences of his action are trivial and are unlikely to affect his future.

I've done daft things in the past including racing a police car thinking it was my mate in pursuit - how's that for stupidity? but I've always accepted the consequences with good grace.

I think that character assassination and opprobrium aspect of the responses has been bigged up a bit.

At the end of the day this is a forum populated by many people who are unlikely to meet face to face with the young alleged offender - the opinons and support/derision offered to him by his immediate family and friends ought to count for much more than the opinions expressed here.

I realised a caution will not affect my job opportunities a few pages back, although a conviction will (which is the only reason i am worried) A degree in Geography does not in any way correspond to understanding the UK law system. I regret bringing this topic up and i suggest we all let it rest, could a mod please lock it? I'm not interested in people judging my character.

Yeah. I was the laughing stock in my local pub. I was a student at the time and my contrite letter of mitigating financial circumstances got me a token fine, an endorsement and easy payment options of 50p per week which I posted in envelopes bearing no stamps to minimise the financial benefit to The Crown.
