Leave it. It's your word against several (??) witnesses regarding the sequence of events unless there is CCTV to back up your version.
In the cold light of day they might decide that they are the aggrieved party; and you will have made it easy for them by handing yourself in to the Police, if you go down that road.
It sounds as if justice has been done anyway!

Depends, is the spot covered by CC camera's that can back up your side of the story? I would have attempted the exact same as you, but if reported without corroborating evidence it's possible the scrote you hit could claim you started it. He got his comeuppance and I wouldn't want the extra hassle of going through a court case to get him officially charged.

I thank you all for your advice and feedback.
I do need to clarify that I didn't actually knock the idiots teeth out, that was done by the pavement after I defended myself.
I have spoken to a family friend who is a retired police officer. He is of the opinion that even with CCTV they could all state that I was provoking them by shouting at them or similar which is why they jumped me, and then its down to the probability of truth and who would be believed in court. He said that as one of them will be eating soup over Christmas it is probably best to leave it at that as apart from a slight back ache and a scuff on my handlebars there is no damage done. He did say the police probably wouldn't even investigate as they have other priorities on Christmas Eve. Too many drunks causing an awful lot more problems for one thing.

Unfortunately not so.

The OP - on his own account - suffered hardly any injury.

The other party has smashed teeth - grievous bodily harm.

Satisfying a jury that inflicting grievous bodily is self defence when the person inflicting it was not injured is going to be difficult.

That assists you, but only to a limited extent.

There have been lots of single punch manslaughters - a single punch is thrown, victim falls backwards/downwards smacks his head and dies.

The punch itself could only have caused a minor injury, but the person throwing it still answers for the full 'injury' - death in those cases.

I'd leave it. Summary justice was handed out, the yob in question is highly unlikely to ever do it again now he's found out that his soft targets are not always that soft after all. He will be too embarrassed to report it even if it occurs to him and he is probably the type who steers well clear of police anyway.

Reminds me of an incident years ago when myself and a mate came out of the pub and found two yobs trying to get into my car. I won't incriminate myself by giving the details, but the police were not troubled...
