Polish for painted carbon frame?

Most things are completely safe on carbon fibre, it's an incredibly resilient material.
I doubt you'd be able to buy anything off the shelf capable of damaging the resin that bonds it together.

Some Collonite 476 will do the trick especially as your on the coast! Its good for keeping the salt off the frame

It's the stuff I use on my Frank Herety SLX and the Ribble 653. The silicone in the spray stops the crap sticking, and it cuts through brake crap like diamonds - it cleans up tyre side walls like nothing else.

Heat, light, acids, alkalis, some salts (yes, they can attack plastics) and even atmospheric oxygen are all nasties for the polymer matrix. One must show at least a little consideration and respect to structural CF.

The use of polish is unnecessary and completely pointless. Use the time you would have spent polishing the frame and do something more productive with it, like learning a foreign language or charity work.

A little respect is one thing, worrying about the polish is unnecessary in my opinion.
Unless you're cleaning it with hot nitric acid or methylene chloride, then carbon fibre is a resiliant material. (IMO, and I don't personally worry about what I clean/polish mine with, no damage as yet)

That is why on page one I suggested that, chemically speaking, furniture polish is quite suitable...

Mr Sheen isn't such a bad idea. Many of these modern paint finishes are chemically quite similar to polyurethane furniture finishes, so should work quite well.

I wonder why the OP posted. Was it to protect the paint? Was it to protect the material? Or was it to make it look good and shiny?

Purely for cosmetic reasons. I wash it after every ride but wondered if occasionally it will need a polish to keep that shine you get from new, just as you would with a car.

That's what I thought. Your like me. I like pretty shiny things. I use the wax I mentioned earlier in the thread on all my bike frames over the years as its a good wax that leaves a nice finish but also because it wont wash off with the first wash (as it was first made for boats) the crud and water repel rather well from it. I love detailing cars so I have a variety of polishes and waxes at my disposal but that'd the one I use
