Pompino bikes - did you know?

Perusing cycle chat here and there, often I come across the brand Pompino.
Do you (pompino owner) know what pompino actually means in Italian?

On-One had/have some good names. IIRC the Pompino name was a gentle mickey take of high-end Italian steel frames. Macinato is another Italian derived name.

Kaffenback makes sense and there was once a rumour that a (fat tubed) aluminium frame was going to be called something pig related (pronounce 'Beer Can' in a Jamaican accent)

The nice English name of Pippa means the same in Italy. Reportedly, the Italian TV commentators had real problems during the Royal wedding last year as they had not been advised to simply say Phillipa. My Italian friends tell me it was very funny.
