Anything less than the best hotels. Work sponsored travel has spoiled me. I'm happiest holidaying in a tent, or a hostel or even a rented static caravan, but I do like a tent best on hols.

I wouldn't recommend Mexico unless you really like an undercurrent of menace.

Yea, 'cos like the whole country is just violent mess. We've had a couple of the most peaceful trips ever to Cozumel. Great diving, people, food and culture.
There were two countries where people threw stones at me. In Afghanistan, they were kids so I don't bear a grudge. In Mexico they were grown men.

That fizzing sound as rocks pass close to your head is one that you don't easily forget. Sorry.

Australia and Dubai are good choices. Been to both and dont feel the need to return, unlike most other places i've been.

Las Vegas itself i'm not keen on but as a base to then go and see the likes of the grand canyon etc then that is a different matter. Of course Australia has lots of positives too in terms of the natural world but despite that it still doesnt appeal much..

Sorry I didn't realize you had traveled the entire country and found that rock throwing was a common practice for every Mexican man. Likewise, I've been almost taken out by a number of white vans in England and therefore the all English road users are ar3sholes.

Lobbing rocks was at the extreme end of the spectrum, I will admit. However, I did form a strong impression that there was a spectrum. You like the place, I didn't. That's all.

No way! I lived in Jamaica for 8 years and loved it .

..erm..that was a tongue in cheek comment mate..

I went to Barbados, Guadaloupe, sailed around th evirgin islands both US and British, then went back to the virgin islands again. Did some amazing scuba diving there. Places like St. John, Norman island, Virgin Gorda, St Thomas etc.

Wonderful places, especially by sail boat.

Not sure it's a cycling paradise though.

..where wouldn't I like..hmm..well I suspect India, parts of Africa, the middle east, etc...

I liked south Africa though

No I liked Cozumel, not Mexico and therefore I'm not going to recommend just holidaying anywhere in the country. Whereas on the flip side you disliked the part of Mexico you saw and felt it ok to flame the entire country.
