Possible dumb question, but I have to ask

Hi Guys

I've just noticed that my old (26yo) classic MTB, the pedals go round backwards if I push the bike backwards. Should this happen? The freewheel is working normally, ie the pedals don't go round when moving forwards (obviously not peddling).

It's been bugging me since I noticed.

It's normal - in fact it's essential. If the bike freewheeled in both directions, you wouldn't be able to pedal anywhere.

Oh believe me I've asked WAY more stupid questions than that.

My favourite post ever was the one from the guy who had pumped his inner tube (sans tyre) up to 120psi and complained about the loud bang.

Why did you revive this thread a year later? Trying to humiliate @maxfox44 for some unknown reason?
I take exception to your post. I would never try and humiliate anyone. I simply didn't notice the age of the thread.

Then there was the guy who asked if it was Ok to turn a bike upside down... much hilarity ensued.
