Possibly a silly question about panniers

I have a wire basket on the back of mine which I strap my backpack in with a bungee cord. It's a simple and flexible method, also allows me to put the backpack on my back and fill both that and the basket with shopping. Pannier bags seem too much faff and weight for just commuting to work, not to mention expensive for decent ones.

I have a waterproof roll bag inside mine. Gives me the option of either removing the contents or the pannier....
But my bike is kept in either the the secure compound at work or in my garage..

I have Catrike specific sidepods and just leave on, they are fairly integral to the frame.

Bespoke is the only way to go chaps!

I took delivery of my Ortleib City Front Rollers and rear rack today.

Managed to fit them at lunchtime (or i wouldn't have been able to bring them home!!

i actually meant to order the rear rollers (as they are 20lt each) rather than the front (which are 12.5lt each) but i'm happy to say they will be big enough for my commuting needs so all is well.

I'm really pleased with them and they fit the rack well, plus are very quick to remove if needed (although they will mostly stay on as the bike sits in my office during the day and in the house overnight!)

Made the decision to buy a decent set to start with and hopefully i'll not need to replace them because they have fallen apart etc...

I have a Creek to Peak office bag for work which easily lifts off and looks like a briefcase/bag off the bike. I'm not sure they are available any more though. Ortlieb do a similar thing but it's pricey.

Yep, they certainly are! They clip on in three seconds, and clip off in one.

BTW, they are totally waterproof. A fabulous piece of kit, and built to last. Good choice.

I have some fairly cheap panniers from halfrauds, which I use for everyday use. They are quite easy to get on and off. However, they are not as nice as my carradice bags though, which I can put on or remove in seconds. I don't use the carradice bags for everyday use as I don't need bags that size everyday. I would like to get the smaller carradice bags so that I have a pair for everyday use and for front panniers when ever I go touring.
