Please, don't laugh (ok, do) but I was buying pants earlier on (ha ha) and, in a fit of 'Oh sod it'ness, I bought my first pair of briefs for at least 15 years.
Don't ask me why, they just looked nice (they are designer things, not the Y - fronts you wore as a kid).
I think I'll have to keep them and use them in the name of irony

There is that point, if you need compactness I suppose, but it depends on whether you like short shorts or not on top! And the classic Y - shaped VPL.
I don't like baggy things, so I have worn boxer briefs for years instead. There's not much chance of anything popping out as it were anyhow.... from the boxer briefs I mean, not because I'm too sma.... well, you get the jist
