Yes, the physio and follow up med appointment is through a solicitor via a claim. This is the second time my partner has been impacted by an accident. Whilst I'm against claiming for the sake of it both times she's had her life impacted/inconvenienced though no fault of her own. More importantly through other peoples lack of attention on the road.

Good work and yes; it's certainly difficult to deal with such significant repercussions resulting from other peoples' lackadaisical attitude towards their own conduct / the safety of others

I hope it pans out as well as can be expected!

As usual they're taking the p*ss; so should you.

Trawl Autotrader and game the situation with anything you can do to blag them into paying more - higher-spec models they're potentially unable to differentiate from yours for example. Select only from dealers and go exclusively for the most expensive you can get away with.

There's no fairness here or reward for being proportionate or transparent - blag it for all you can; that's exactly how they're treating you.
Your bang on.
To the insurance company its just a game unless they personally meet a victim which is why they avoid that.
Just trying to help a couple out over the last year and the insurance company I am certain are just waiting for him to die.
His neighbour thought I was mad to say that, but six months on now feels the same.

Managed to crash my car about a year ago (my fault). There was a delay as the insurers were trying to assess whether it was repairable or a write off. During that time we looked at the cost of a hire as we could manage a week without one. Turns out that waiting for a better offer was not cost effective so we had a replacement identified and ready to go when the offer came in. The insurers must have fallen off their chair when we accepted the first offer but we knew we had a good deal on the replacement in our back pocket.

The personal injury claim will take ages to settle. Just take direction from your solicitor.

The car claim is a negotiation. Just keep being fair and reasonable. The issue is that your insurance company have to recover the money from the third party, so have to demonstrate that they have not over paid you.

Update, finally the insewerance company stuck to £1800 and my partner accepted. Physio/injury claim is ongoing and as time rolls on recovery isn't as quick as we'd hoped which is frustrating her. Events that were booked have been cancelled and money lost( birthday Florence and the Machine ticket went unused), races that were booked have been cancelled to add to frustration.....hey ho it could of been worse.

My daughters husband and two of his mates were cycling. All were taken out by another cyclist who spotted friends ob the other side of the road and did 90 degree turn directly into the path of my son in law and mates. They went flying over the handlebars. One ended up in hospital overnight CT scans blah blah.

This is the funny bit, all used the same insurance to claim off the cyclist who took them out.

One got paid almost immediately for the biggest payout, very expensive bike and injury. My son in law claimed the least for repairs and injury, but took 18 months. Same insurance, same third party .

Go figure

The physio recommended gentle cycling, as Ms Hicky is carless and sitting on the bus to and from the gym is out. I speedily setup this pain cave with a £10 marketplace turbo and press-ganged her bike into service. It just needs a good clean. I do suggest we fork out for a zwift setup but she/we are more an outdoors activity type of person so I think it would go unused long term. Ms H is over the moon 🫡

if you can't attend events that are booked and paid for, then claim them as part of the insurance. I did when I had similar, and they paid up.
