Post workout recovery supplement

Any recommendations for a good supplement? I've just signed back up to the gym and due to working a 3 shift pattern I sometimes have to go to the gym before work. The job at work uses pretty much all the muscle groups i have been working a few hours prior. Really i need something that aids the soreness after, not a mass gainer! Yes i am fully aware of lactic acid and undertaking a cooldown etc but just need that extra something especially when i am slogging away on night shift.

I think it was Channel 4 that did a trial with a rugby team, half had energy drinks & the other half milk after training & the milk gave better recovery results.

Flavour it with Crusha, and add some protein powder to make an 'Angel Delight' replica.

cannae stand milk on its own, but been drinking a hot chocolate when I get to work in the mornings and also have a banana. Certainly fills me up and I feel better for it.
