Well, they actually stated June but I thought that I would give them a bit of leeway. I just checked... yes, it IS June 2025!
I forgot to post my new speeds after fibre BB finally arrived chez Col in the summer...

I could have paid more and got even faster speeds but I don't share my bandwidth with anyone else so I settled on a 300 Mb/s package. I just checked - 302.4 Mb/s download speed, 46.3 Mb/s upload speed. Everything works wonderfully quickly now.

I was streaming the World Track Championship coverage on iPlayer on my speedy new Android tablet just now. On my TV and with my slow old BB, 10 second skips forwards and backwards took about 9.5 seconds so they were pretty useless. Now I can skip 10 seconds in about 0.1 seconds so skipping through coverage is really easy - I just tap the trackpad until something interesting happens and then resume watching coverage until things settle down again.

I tried it on YouTube. I can quickly step through videos 10 seconds at a time using the right arrow key on the tablet's keyboard case. That beats my old method of speeding videos up to get to the interesting bits.

We had City Fibre cable up our area a little under two years ago. We were leafleted by " Toob Broadband " with an offer of 900Mb up / down for £25 per month on an 18 month contract with a no price increase guarantee. Over the following few months we had leaflets from several other well known providers, the only thing in common was they were all offering in the region of 300-400 Mb at a significantly higher price.
Had an email last week to say my original contract was coming to an end, with the choice of a rolling contract, or to renew for a further 18 months at £29.
Service has been exemplary, with prior warning of any service outages, and account credits when we had a ( very brief ) unplanned outage.

Been with Toob (CityFibre infra here, though Toob are doing their own in some nearby areas) since last April. Got the £25/month deal just before they put the price up. Renewal of my 18 month contract (ending today) was offered at £29/month. They are offering £25/month to new customers. Rather than just moaning about it on social media, I asked about it via their help centre. Rather than an explanation, told to ring them. Explained again, got put through to retentions…no reduction on the monthy rate but three months free, so overall cheaper than the £25/month deal. Result! And the speed remains exemplary…

(Actually dropped ever so slightly from early speed test results, was 930-940 each way…in practice I've seen no degredation, downloads get up to 117MB/sec).

That is outstanding. We are limited to VM for full fibre and the lowest we could get was £51/month for 350mb/sec. However, we've now had an email from Openreach to say they are installing in our area, and we've seen Openreach vans outside the opposite properties. Does that mean we Openreach connect us, we could potentially get what you're getting? Or are Toob not part of Openreach? Anything would be an improvement if we can get at least 300mb/sec at something below £30/month

Toob aren't using Openreach's network at all. The Openreach fibre offering is more limited- max speeds less than two gigabit (I can get five from Sky!) and upload speeds are much lower. Still better than fibre to the cabinet, of course.

Edit: Openreach's fibre offering is up to 1.6Gbps down/115Mbps up. EE's 900Mbps (down) service is £39.99 (before the baked-in price increases in March 2026 & 2027).

Gigaclear do 300Mb/s for £19, and if your current contract is subject to penalties they'll give it to you for free until the contract expires. (Their out of contract price is £48, but I don't know what they offer for renewal.)

That's excellent, and I used to do the same " renewal dance " . Didn't bother this time as it still seemed like a great deal. My spidey senses are now on alert however for next year's renewal 👍

A bit of congestion today.
200Mbps download, 12 Mbps upload.
Speed maxes out at about 350 Mbps down 35Mbps up.

A cheapskate deal at £8 per month which runs out in 12 months. Next deal is paid for too at about £5 for a further 18 months capped at 350GB per month. As 350GB usage is an exception for me it will suffice.
