Pot hole

On my ride earlier I hit a pot hole six inches across and four inches deep, it made my teeth rattle. I had a quick check but what damage should I be looking for, there was a distinct clang as I hit but I don't think it was my teeth. The frame and forks are carbon (Willier Izoard) the wheels are Fulcrum 5's

The clang was probably your chain hitting the stay, The bike and wheels should be fine. If it's broken/bent you feel it fairly quickly, your steering would feel out of line or you get creaks and clicks. You were lucky not to puncture.
