The government should ban companies from paying shareholders where they've taken on a statutory responsibility, such as the highways authority, for profit and theyre underperforming.

Noticeable that the justification is "This will help save drivers...from costly repairs.".
Potholes have already cost several cyclists their lives, but there's no mention of that.

Along with motorcycles, horse riders and long distance pogo stick users we're in too much of a minority to be specifically mentioned ^_^

I think Leeds have just published a report how good their roads are, they ought to look at FB reports from the public. It paints a very different picture, mind you what do you expect from a Labour Council.

I don't know. Berets, beards, addressing each other as 'comrade', and a slight whiff of cannabis?

Ours just seems crap regardless of what colour team claims to be in charge on any given day. Indeed, something as simple as mending a pothole would probably be a lot easier without the P word getting involved.

The fact Wiltshire has a green rating tells you this is utter BS.
Cross the border from Dorset to Wiltshire or Somerset to Wiltshire and there is a noticeable deterioration in the surface quality.

or that Suffolk is red, whilst Essex is green. apparently Suffolk was red, only because the DfT civil servants who pulled this together couldnt add up the sums properly and missed 10million off their spend calculations, even though other civil servants in the DfT who deal with the budgets actually awarded that money.

me thinks it was rushed out to try and distract from current woes of the government and steal a few headlines for a bit.

Darlington is green too..... LOL. Maybe the roads outside the council offices are OK but Staindrop road heading out westwards in our direction is like Port Stanley runway.

Ah yes, Darlington's brail roads, I used to be able to navigate by them ^_^
I remember the grief we got from all sides when we had a phased closure to repair the road outside the hospital. Despite all the signage and publicity those who had complained most vocally about potholes then complained that they had to take a slightly different route while the road was repaired properly.
Some people are never happy 😊
