I was going to suggest you asked Damian at DJ Cycles if he knew anybody but I see he's finally admited defeat at the hands of the internet sellers. Try asking the lads at Ride On, they might know somebody local.

I spotted a company advertising powder coating services at Eastwood on the A646 between Hebden Bridge and Todmorden. They might be worth a look ... Pennine Powder Coating. "Push bike" £40, "Mountain bikes" from £40.

Been in touch, be £65 done in RAL5012 to be as close to original as possible.
Only problem is he's only open week days which is when the wife has the car and we're both at work.

I've seen too many badly powdercoated bikes to ever have one done. It covers and blurs the crisp lines of lugwork, doesn't give a decent shine and is often rather orange-peely too. The really big bike manufacturers get it done well on new bikes, with high-gloss lacquer too, but your average local powdercoaters can't get a decent finish. Unless it's a hack bike, my advice is to save up and get a proper wet paint job. Bob Jackson do good paint and are quite good value.

Both myself and Biggs each know several powder coaters who do neat, tidy, and fine work at reasonable prices. The powder coat job on my Saracen is absolutely delightful.

Plenty of crap ones out there, but no shortage of decent ones either. It doesn't take a genius to eyeball their work hanging up before handing over a frame.

That's my worry, a bad job that I have to live with.

admittedly the current paint job is absolutely rubbish done in my mates garage. But I did it so it's easier to live with!

the place recommended in Todmorden specialises in classic motorbike bits, so presumably is more familiar with frames than just general gates and fences etc

I have had a few bikes, one lugged, powdercoated in recent years and have been very happy with the results. If I had a more valuable lugged bike such as a Mercian I probably would get it painted, but otherwise powdercoat is fine and takes light knocks better imo.
The place I went to specialises in work such as alloy car wheels and motor bike frames where quality of finish is important to customers, so are quite experienced at getting smooth, gloss finishes. I would be wary of companies that specialise in powdercoating high volumes of large items such as garden furniture, gates and machinery.

Wouldn't help, no way of getting there when the wife's at work as she's got the car and I think plod might take a dim view of me putting a bike frame on the pillion seat of the bike.
Can you carry it on your shoulder?

Rode back from Shipley(10 miles) with one hand holding the frame over the shoulder.

On the Hebden Bridge side of Todmorden?

How much does it cost to Oldham?
my understanding is that it can 'bloom' if too much moisture gets in while spraying, the ideal I've always understood is to be spraying in a warm dry environment

With regards the frame, the ideal involves stripes, a white head tube, white band on the seat tube and yellow bands on top tube and down tube as that's it's correct colours. Could put these on with vinyl though...

I'm near Bury, Lancs if anyone has a recommendation,

Been in contact with a powder coaters who was recommended by my local (now closed) bike shop
Try chicago pc in Mossley
