Power failure torch

Petzl still make great headtorches. I’d also get some LED lights to light rooms or stairs in addition during power cuts.

Thanks, we both have Petzl headlights at the moment. They are great for winter runs.

I have these for under the kitchen cabinets and in the dark cupboard to stop you needing to reach for the switch every time.
One thing I will say is look at the battery size - there's lights with more battery available. It's a bit of a faff if you need to charge every other day.
Very handy for putting in the bathroom though - sticks to the medicine cabinet and you don't need bright lights if you need the loo at night.

yes my Mrs, in her old house, had little dim "spot" lights built into the bottom of the bath panel which came on motion sensor as you walked in for a nighttime wee. very handy. they were mains powered with a transformer.

I favour elastic strapped headlights eg from Petzl. OK they aren't in themselves rechargeable but being LED last ages from 3 AAA cells, and you could use rechargeable in them.

In lieu of a little flashing light mine are hung on the hooks of the coat rack in the hall so are easy to find even in the dark

We've had a wind-up torch for years, no idea where it came from, usually kept on our hallway bookshelves.

In recent years my better half bought a couple of battery power banks, plus at least one string of mini fairy lights, ready for the apocalypse.

Mobiles have a torch function.

Discovered my ~£40 Redmi 5 Lite watch has a torch function, albeit I mainly got it for its built-in GPS that has given great lock when tried. Battery lasting ~3 weeks between charges.
