- and anybody who really doesn't think that this is a gay movie should really check it out. Oops, the boys are just putting on their make-up for the big night out!

I loved the announcers introduction....

"The prequel to Predator 2, here is Predator"

Predator stands out for spawning one of the best alien nasties in scifi, the rest of the film is crud. The other top nasty has to be Alien(an altogether different, and superior, movie) and the potential of the Alien v Predator franchise was massive. Sadly it received the usual Hollywood treatment.

My kids summed up Predator, cool monster, cheesy film. They're too young to pick up on the undertones.

You can't be mean about Predator. Thomas on here used to have a Danny Glover avatar, I can imagine him running around like in predator 2 kicking some ass for cyclists and I mean that in a cool way. Of course Magnatom is also really Robocop too...

There's a rebooted "Predator" coming our way - minus the Alien, with any luck. A true film of it's time with John McTiernan at the height of his game, and "real" alien effects. Ehhh.. ye could, like Tarantino, reveal the "homo erotic subplot" that suffused "Top Gun" (that was on last night as well), or you could just enjoy it for what it is - silly cartoon characters blowing stuff up while uttering cheesy one-liners.

Or do both!

When my little boy was only about 6, he loved films like Alien and Predator, but films like Jaws scared him cackless, that much in fact we could not put them on in his presence.

There was no way, when WCMnr was a small child, I'd have let him anywhere near a film like Predator or Alien (or Jaws..)

A great alien tho'. You have to watch perdator 1/2 and Predator vs Alien to pick up on all the tricks it has. At the end of Predator 2, there is an 'Alien' skull in the alcove and you realise that there is a hunter/prey thing going on and then there is the metal disc thing, the first-aid kit in the bathroom and the way the vision system goes through various modes. The third one you get to see how the lances works and those pulse rifles target.
First 2 Alien films were excellent but I'm sure that the franchise could run to one more of each if they had a decent script.

They've already made several more Alien films and they were all crap. The original Animatronic aliens really were scary, dripping goo from their jaws... (shudder). Once they started with that CGI nonsense, the franchise went downhill rapidly.

A group of us went to watch Alien 2 in Bradford. It was all good scary fun. There was a scene where the aliens were getting closer to our heroes who couldn't work out where they were (they were above the ceiling). I turned round and saw that one of my friends not only had his eyes tightly shut but also had his fingers in his ears. Ha, ha, ha - we teased him about that for months afterwards! ;)

I liked Alien Resurrection when Ripley8 goes into the room where the displays of the failed Alien/Ripley hybrids are housed... and she decides to use the flamethrower. Ripley7 was horribly sad.
