The Met Office supply the BBC forecasts, so they are almost exactly the same. I've found that the Met Office has got very negative in its forecasting since the Scottish Goverment tried to blame them for the chaos on the M8 a couple winters back. If you watch weather move through from 5 days out to 24 hrs out it is far more likely that the forecast will improve than deteriorate IME

When my cat wakes me up I give him a scratch. If he's really wet then it's raining, if he's dry then it's not.

If he's just a bit damp then chances are it's foggy.

Otherwise I use the Met Office site.

Thursday will start out dry & cold. Possible light showers towards the end of the day.
Take a look at what nature is doing.

The Met Office/BBC but only on the morning of and just before the ride. I find it changes significantly from the night before quite frequently so only ever use the forecast on the day as a guide. I also tend to look at the isobars, cloud cover and rain in the animations of recent hours because you can get a good feel if rain is going to be sweeping in or whether spots with train are coming and going at random.

Check if there is an amateur meteorlogist in your area. They often have their own websites with live readings of temp/pressure and (if you're lucky) weather forecasts.
