Came back to haunt me this thread! Rode in yesterday 25 miles, back in car, car in and ride back today. Came to get on bike and front tyre is flat, was fine yesterday when I put bike away. Now is when I'm glad I have spare inner tube and Co2 canisters at work so I don't need to dip into my supplies that I carry, 5 minutes later and we are good to go! Nice to have a place to store the extras, might even get a second track pump for at work.

Tube had started to come away near the valve, can't complain as I must have done 4000 miles on it.

Regarding overshoes and trainers.
I have found the the cheap (£17) Lonsdale trainers that you get from sports direct will allow me to use some overshoes. Ive got some Tamrac h2o which fit fine.

I've actually just ditched my panniers & rack (nice Topeka mtx quick release trunk bag and panniers in the classifieds ;) ) and now use a large ortlieb saddle bag.

In the saddle bag I carry,

2 inner tubes
3 tyre leavers
Small multitool
Spare batteries (for lights)
Boxers & socks
House keys
Work keys.
Wallet
iPhone

One day a week I drive in and take spare clothes. My commute is 10 miles each way with no showers at work

What about flares? Always useful in an emergency.

You never know when you're gonna get invited to that 70s student disco.
