Prescribed drugs and Cyclists

Apparently in England alone the average number of prescriptions for drugs per head of population each year is 20, and 40+ for the over-60’s. Half the English population have taken one prescription drug in the past week, and a quarter have taken three or more

Do the cycling population buck this trend? Are you over or under the average? Perverse curiosity demands an answer.

1 a day for me

Currently 3 pills a day regardless of whether cycling or running helps. Suspect 1 could be ditched, aka statins.

Normally 1 for my stomach, but temporarily 2 while im on prescription painkillers for my back.

Mrs D has 18 a day (MS, sarcoidosis, and T2 diabetes thats a result of emergency treatment to save her eyesight), a daily injection, and 2 weekly injections. She alone is probably responsible for these stats.

I take Nine different tablets a day plus a weekly injection, not unusual for a type 2 diabetic.

Thats down 2 and I no longer inject insulin. My number of regular NHS appointments is down from 8 to 2.

Personally I've always preferred non-prescription drugs.

Only had a course of antibiotics 2 years ago, which the stroppy nurse said in my 2 week follow up that the Dr shouldn't have prescribed for a chest infection anyway. Apart from that, just some Omeprazole when I had tennis elbow and was taking NSAIDs
