But it does little for bone density or upper body strength.

Much the same as weight training does little for VO2 max I’d imagine. Just goes to show you shouldn’t overdo anything - including cycling.

Crohns or colitis? Long term effects of corticosteroids are pretty bad, if they weren't I'd probably still have a colon...

It's Crohn's disease sorry. I've only ever had it in my sigmoid colon and rectum. I agree corticosteroids aren't ideal but I'm only asking to go on them for a max of once a year 4-6 weeks at a time. The problem is, they seem to be the only thing that does anything meaningful to my symptoms and my bowels have been bleeding on and off for about six years, sometimes years at a time.
To add insult to injury, I find prednisolone much more effective than budesonide. too.

1 stomach protector
2 blood pressure
1 Aspirin

1 anti depressant
1 statin

2x inhalers.

I'd rather not take any - but after a heart attack just over a year ago, I thank my lucky stars I can still lead a normal life with no restrictions.

Thankfully I'm in the UK and these drugs are totally free of charge. I wouldn't be able to afford these drugs if I lived in the USA.

Thank God for the NHS !

Thank Bevan et al, and the tax-payers who have funded it ;-)

Apparently in England alone the average number of prescriptions for drugs per head of population each year is 20, and 40+ for the over-60’s. Half the English population have taken one prescription drug in the past week, and a quarter have taken three or more

Do the cycling population buck this trend? Are you over or under the average? Perverse curiosity demands an answer.
It's very difficult to know if these figures are in anyway accurate. I know you're the messenger. I take six prescription medications, prescribed at different life stages, but these are amalgamated in to one single 28 day prescription.

So at 72 I receive prescriptions pa or is it 13 x 6 drugs = 78???

There's lies, damn lies........and of course statistics.
