Hi All.
Any massive fans of them or any haters of them?
Loads of different ones to be had, are any better than others as the Halfords guy said there were better ones than they sold.
I read somewhere they they cause the gauge to give out incorrect pressure readings....

A bit fiddly as screwing the adaptor on can close the Presta valve.

I don't really see the point of them, just make sure you have a Presta head on your pump. I know it lets you use a garage airline but a decent pump can get full pressure with little or no effort.

I can't really see the point either and whilst Ive no experience I reckon they'd introduce another weak point for air to escape from :-/

I don't think I will be bothering then after your posts.
My track and mini pump have adaptors to swap between Presta and Schrader BUT I could just never get on with Presta valves when I had them before.
For some reason inflating them was always a drama !!!! :headshake:

A lot of people have problems with them at first, including me, but it is worth persevering and practising a few times in the comfort of your home and soon you will wonder why you ever had a problem with them:smile:.

That'd be true of all valves though.

I mentioned in another thread about me having doubts about how well the adaptors on two pumps will work.
They don't seem the best ......
Will try them at some point, don't want to mess at the moment !!!

The only time I use the adaptor is when I put a sealant canister in. Other than that, just put the right head on the pump.

Cheers mate, and for your replies on the subject on another thread.

Don't really have a problem with either although when doing the etap in 2010 my Presta valve sheared completely off but didn't deflate. I risked it but didn't finish anyway. Schrader seems to be very robust in my opinion.

Schrader seems to be very robust in my opinion.
The valve cores sometimes unscrew and aren't easy to tighten, they seem to leak quicker than the other types and I've got an explosively-deflated Schrader tube where I can't see any damage so I suspect the valve. I'm inclined to replace the rest of my Schrader-valved bikes with Woods as the inner tubes expire.

I find my woods valved tubes lose air quicker than either presta or schrader. I was under the impression that resta more more suitable to high pressure systems - did I make that up?
