Been keeping an eye on prices for a while and they are certainly dropping especially when they reach 10 years old

This is a local trader who I have purchased 3 cars from with no issues

At the price, I'd have an i3 all day long.

Something along those lines yes* - as ever, careful pre-purchase due diligence is necessary, but the battery will be the least of the issues, unlike that Gen of Leaf, whose air 'cooled' batteries really did suffer significant degradation.

*Or a non-Rex model for added reliability if it's to be a 'round the doors' car.

If and when my current ICE Vauxhall Insignia estate becomes uneconomic to repair, we will be looking at replacing it with a similar sort of sized EV, with a range of over 200 miles.

Which if limiting to around £10-12K means currently only an MG5. If it hangs on another couple of years, there are several others which will be around that price by then, such as the Peugeot E-308, Vauxhall Astra electric, VW ID-7.

The VW ID-7 estate is huge, probably as big/bigger than a Superb (my brother has one as his company lease and it's affectionately known as the Liner/supertanker) So not in the same size class as the others!

I hadn't realised it was that big.

Just checking boot sizes (with and without rear seats folded) of the ones I have listed, the MG5 is a little smaller than my Insignia, the E-308 is almost identical to the Insignia, as is the Astra electric estate. But the ID7 is about 20% larger, which is quite a bit.

They are extremely long!
Think you'd also pay a big premium on tax based on the sales value even when used

My brother's would be about 70k to buy (he has the GTX? Model)

This is similar to us when our Nissan note gets to that stage .

Ideally it will keep going on and on

I'm not really a VW fan, although I almost bought a Skoda Superb last year, or even a fan of electric vehicles but that ID-7 is a good looking motor. Still think I'll keep the Merc though 👍
