Anyway, I do remember where I was. In bed, Mrs M woke me up as - she had been up with elder Marmionette (who was 1 year old) - and was watching TV. So she thought that waking me up at stupid o'clock when I was due to start work at 7am was a good idea. It wasn't. I then went into work to find the person I was due to be working with was so upset that she had gone sick. Yeh, thanks a fecking bundle you twonk. I also remember I was assaulted twice that day, and attended a fatal road accident (not sure what they are called now), and made one domestic abuse arrest. I went home and commented something along the lines of "a whole load of other shite happened today you feckers" to the TV...

My dad was human, and a father (obvs) and his death was very sad. I'm not expecting there'll be a magazine supplement in the Mail at any point.
Sorry to hear about your Dad; but had he been married to the heir to the throne, and produced the next 2 in line?
Diana was a public figure, and possibly the most liked public figure at that time. The manner and premature timing of her death obviously contributed to the grief. I can't believe some of the posts on here - perhaps it has become trendy to not give a f*** about her in the intervening years, but that certainly wasn't the case at the time. Perhaps it's just CycleChat being CycleChat .
For the record, I found her death sad - and I speak as a Scotsman from the land that doesn't tend to care too much for your English Queen and her family.

I was never much interested in Diana or the royals generally but her death was definitely one of those "you always remember where you were when you heard the news" moments.

In my case, I was in bed with a young lady friend...

I wonder what the lady friend remembers from that day?

I recall being off my head in some taxi going across London after being on a night out at, I think, Ministry of Sound. The taxi driver had the radio on. But to be honest it could have been Ministry of Justice.

On the day of the funeral I was no doubt off my head again. Things were rather cloudy and muddled back then. They are cloudy and muddled now but not for the same reasons.
