Printer poor quality

my printer is giving poor quality prints with purple line across it.
Cartridges are new and I’ve tried doing a nozzle clean. Any suggestions?

Try the same picture on High Quality.

One of the colours is out of ink or broken. Do a simple test page.

I’ve replaced the ink recently, I might put a new set in and try again, it doesn’t get used very often.
I did a nozzle check and head clean and printed another pic and it came out all pink!

Sounds as though the heads have dried out. A high quality print will require more ink, so should pull out any ink that's dried out.

I’ve just had laser treatment on my dogs poorly joints at £23 a session for 6 sessions and then once a month for ever + £38 a month joint tablets, the last thing I need is to be buying a new printer!

Can you get a piece of damp kitchen towel to the printhead. There should be an even amount of ink from each colour.

Are all vents on the ink tanks free?

A new printer is almost the same price as replacing the cartridges!!
Sad, but true, in our disposable society.. I gave up trying to get my old(ish) Kodak printer to print properly.
I now have an HP that works, for now.

Don't you have to realign the cartridges using the align page it prints off when new?

Looks like what my Epson regularly does .I'm tempted to buy a Pixma as it's cheaper than fannying around with cleaning / new cartridges and I fancy a change from Epson

I've had success in the past cleaning heads by hand. It's worth a try.

Thanks for the help everyone, set it to best quality and printed a few time, came out loads better in the end, still a not perfect but enough for what I needed.

But the supplied cartridges are "test cartridges" and supplied almost empty
