Probably a very dumb question about GS10 Sensor

The hub mounted speed sensor from Garmin, the GS10, when taking the battery out, has a slip of paper with the + symbol on the inside of it. Is it necessary to have that paper in it, I notice it does have 4 metal clips sticking up so I guess so, but it seems a little...temporary?

Just went and checked mine...... it’s not there, so I must have taken it out. I assume its just to tell you which way to put the batt in first time.....

Put it back immediately, your life is in serious danger without it. It's there ti prevent your hub conducting a positive charge throughout your whole bike, this is fine until you happen to look at your rear hub, you will imediately be magnetly attraced to the nearest hedge.

2 of my rear sensors have failed in the last 2 weeks, and despite new batteries just wont work anymore. Can't get lights to come on or either Edge to pair. They aren't 'GS10' sensors btw, they are the hub seperate speed sensor which don't seem to have a name.
