Some local farms have these so you can get very fresh milk.

More than fresh, I assume; it must be raw.

Or - during an Australian summer on days when it was above 30C before morning playtime - school yoghurt.

(I don't miss it. Never liked chugging warm milk, unless it has a shot or two of espresso in it)

The vending machines used to supply chilled milk in waxed paper cartons that held about 1/2 to 2/3rds of a pint...I think. They were great fun.

Yep, actual guards vans were on freight trains, but there used to a guards compartment in passenger carriages which could take parcels, bikes and such like.

Loakes used to do a perfect country weight oxford brogue (model called Lydney) leather lined and exceptional value for a high quality Northampton made shoe. Sadly when my third consecutive pair expired after its 6th resole and much abuse I couldn't get them anymore ! I should have stocked up with couple more pairs each of brown and black.

We used to put a load in between 2 bolts screwed into a nut. Then throw it in the air/against a wall.

Wasn't there a steel ball thingy that you loaded up with some kind of cap that made a very satisfying bang when hurled onto a hard surface?
