Prof Cox got me interested in physics again. I now have a much better understanding on quantum mechanics and Einstein's theories of relativity because I became interested enough to read more books. Anyone who can make physics more interesting and understandable is someone we need more of on TV.

PS I also really like The Infinite Monkey Cage on Radio 4.

Brian was recruited by Sheffield Hallam University as an ambassador for science fifteen or so years ago as part of their Pupil Researcher Initiative which raised the profile of science as a career amongst teenagers. I worked with him and other prominent scientists such as Harry Kroto back then on pupil research projects. He did a fantastic job at opening kids eyes to the possibilities within science research and at least three students from my school went on to do PhD's and three went on to become a vet, a doctor and a dentist. A whole bunch of my pupils were exposed to university environments and the Royal Institution by the initiative and loved being treated seriously by the likes of Lord Sainsbury, Helen Sharman and Kim Howells.

Brian was part of the large team but his youthfulness and music credentials at the time made it easier for him to connect with the teenagers. He's a diamond geezer.

He dips. No doubt about it.
Oh, by the way, women find him attractive.

Utter bastard!

One of my ex pupils now aged thirty plus and a senior oncology researcher in America still drools when she recalls meeting Brian Cox for the first time fifteen years ago. I'm not convinced that her subsequent enthusiasm for attending the pupil conferences was driven by elevated academic aspirations.

If truth be known. I can't speak through the drool.

Cox = young whippersnapper. Give me AJP Taylor any day.

Harry Kroto, nobel laureate and buckminster fullerene guru, does a better gig.

Here for rides.
Cox is an interesting, and gifted, broadcaster, and I can easily understan dhis visually appeal, but like all slebs, and that is what he has become even if only a minor one, we are expected to fawn on his opinion on each and every subject including those beyond his expertise.

"Professor Brian Cox says xxxxxx" and "Ex-musso turned academic Brian is quoted as saying yyyyyy" is wearing.

One expression, one tone and one speed. I find him thoroughly boring and puts me off a subject I'm fascinated by.

I've still got a brain up there"
