Saw it in IMAX 3D at Southampton - visually spectacular, particularly the opening sequence of the Icelandic landscape, and the holes in the story, except for the fact that no one would be stupid enough to take their helmet off, didn't occur to us at the time, only on later analysis.

The final sequence linking to Alien felt like a last minute addition to keep the money men happy and cheapened the production - and I still don't know why the robot wanted to infect the crew.

I don't normally say this, but you will have to shut down your intellectual and critical faculties somewhat if you want to enjoy it. Don't expect anything to with Alien - though a sort of prequel it's a completely different story.

It leaves loads of unanswered questions - but in a way that's extra value, after spending £14 to see a film I'd much rather have something to think about than nothing at all.

It won't be any good on DVD imo; it'll seem rather mundane what with not really having much of a plot. It looks lovely on the big screen though. Probably better than 2 of the Alien films, but not much, and nowhere near the original.

Apparently there should be two more prequel / sequels and the thrid one will link up with the original Alien film a la Star Wars. I hope I don't end up hating alien as much as I ended up hating Star Wars though!!!

Thanks for the reviews and from what I have read I think I will probably give it a total miss like I did with Terminator Salvation. It was one of 2 films I was looking forward to watching at the cinema, along with Mad Max 4. I expect that Mad Max will also be dumbed down from what the original 2 films were to make more money from large audiences. I would also personally rather that it was not in 3D. Mad Max 3 was total turd when Hollywood got their hands on the franchise years ago, I would guess that 4 can not be any worse than that though. I also heard rumours of them making another Bladerunner film, I can only hope that they do not ruin that to make mega $'s. I remember my dad first taking me to see Bladerunner with my brother when I was around 12 when it first came out. I was bored stupid, and yet now it is my favourite film of all time, and has been since my early 20's. I somehow think that if they do make a sequel to it, they will not want a film that bores the shoot out of young people. Must be getting old.

Feisty Ripley-esque female character -check
Disposable crew - check (see if you can predict order of deaths)
Duplicitous robot - check
Twist you can see coming from Bradford - check
More questions than answers - check
Illogical plot holes & silly things only people in movies do - check (Why did they park the spaceship a mile away from the alien base?. Park the bloody thing within walking distance!)
Dumb scientist who just has to touch that alien-thing - check
At least one character who gets sprayed with alien blood acid - check
Xenomorphs - er,....only one at the very, very end of the film.
Expensive, sumptous OTT production, gear, CGI etc - check
Plot - not very interesting

Prometheus - loads of hype, looks great, pity about the lame plot and dull characters.

Best performance - David the Robot
Best scene - the woman from the Dragon Tatoo film having to do some DIY surgery on herself.

Well I thought it was good. Daughter took me to see it last Sunday, Father's Day treat at the Imax Swiss Cottage.
I just like 3D films, the new Spider Man film looks worth seeing.

Obtained a superb copy of this film and watched it last night. Shame I cannot say the same about the film itself. It looked stunning but that was about it, was little or no character development and I did not care less about any of them. I found it cheesey having the token Android too. Maybe the director's cut will be much better, although I doubt it will be a really good film ever. Lets hope Ridley Scott does not make a sequel to Blade Runner as if this film is anything to go off it will be a really bad idea, but then again $$$$$.
