Sidevalve. I see what you are saying but I am sure there must be a light material that can be woven to provide protection for road cyclists

It would need to be almost identical to modern cycling wear. Thin, stretchy, quick drying, printable, breathable but with long sleeves.

I cannot see the point of having a short sleeve protective jersey as it is your forearms that often take the brunt of aspill.

My working glove is made of a light, wool looking material and I can slice away at it with a stanley knife and it will not cut me. When I get to work I will give it an abrasion test on the electronic grinding wheel.
I feel a startup campaign coming on

If i remember rightly from the days i rode a cycle with a (small) motor it's not only the fact that leather is used in motorcycle clothing but also the fact there are often, i accept the racing kit not so much, layers and energy is dissapated between those layers as well as the general toughness of leather being sacrificed.

As I said up thread, Google "Dyneema".

The Santini Dfend ss jersey used to have abrasion resistant fabric on the shoulders and shoulder blades.

Wear your road rash with pride !

I would gladly do that but it is quite extensive on my arms. Its a week after my accident and I am flaking all over the leather sofa. My sympathy pass ran out with Jannie about 3 days ago. If I can find a product to prevent these bollockings, I will. At the moment the only option I can think of is gaffer tape. No, not on my arms, on her mouth.

anyone who is willing to put a cycle top on then put his elbow on an angle grinder has to be applauded - if only to remind him what you can do with two hands !
