Yes, it's probably scratches or dust on the disc or on the lens.

OT but I've just been given an original XBOX to see if I like it before splashing out on a PS3 or 360.

Whenever I put a disk in it just spins for a few secs and then ejects itself. Am I doing something wrong? The only thing that comes on screen is the XBOX menu.

I want to see what all the fuss behind Halo 2 is? (and yes I know I'm 8 years behind the times!!!!!):blush::biggrin::blush:;)

that's nothing I started on Tomb Raider about 11 years ago, I have all 3 of them now(though there's probably more since) and am on the second one. Only finished the first with some cheats and generally seem to play about once every 6 months.

Spoke to a mate of mine last night who's a PS3 owner and he says it's fantastic... Also siad he plays GTA IV and no mention of choppy FPS. I am going to go for the PS3 if anything but it all depends upon me finding a flat mate within the next 2 weeks first :becool:

Maybe it's just me, I know PC gamers do tend to complain about consoles, as PC gamers are used to running at higher fps like 60 so going to a console and running most games is a nightmare, allthough allot of 360/ps3 ports do run crappy on a PC and GTA IV runs horrible too, I've gave up playing it. I convinced my dad to sell the PS3 and hopefully buy a PC with the money but no he went and spent it on car tax

I have a PC thats capable of playing most new games smoothly but like the idea of having something of a media centre in the lounge also capable of playing the odd game. Quit online gaming on the PC - spent too long wasting hours upon hours upon hours doing that :becool::thumbsup:

Interesting to see what Spec PC you could buy for £150 to play games on (like the 360)

Has anyone chipped a 360 at all ?
I never use it for live anymore.

Frame rates are only really bad on some games. Last game I played a lot of time a PC was Test Drive and on the 360 as well. It didn't run well. Used to play UT2004 a lot, UT3 sucked so that was the end of that.

Got a PS3 Slim 120GB yesterday.

Our house was burgled whilst we were on holiday (tw*ts) so instead of replacing the WII (which was good, but family oriented) I decided to go for as PS3 to get the better (IMHO) games and the Blu-ray capability (which will fit in nicely with my new HD TV too).

So far I've only used it on composite (HDMI cable arrived today so will get the full experience tonight!) but I like the ease of use, and have already set-up wireless networking, downloaded the V3 software, and set-up a profile on PSN.

I like the idea of being able to go online and buy games direct (not something I think you can do on the WII?) and having all the media extras is neat too.

There's also a Bravia-link thingy too that will merge the XMB on my TV with my PS3 but I'm not sure how useful that will be.

Having read some complaints about noise issues I was a bit worried that the missus would have me take it back because it sounded like a Chav's big-bore 1.2 Corsa exhaust, but it's very quiet so no worries there (mind you, I haven't played any BD's in it yet, so can't say that for sure, but in a quiet house with everyone in bed and the TV turned down very low I didn't feel it was noisy at all).

I must say though, I never even considered the XBox; I think it was the Blu-ray that sealed it for me.

Just waiting for the wireless microphones to arrive so the daughter and her mate can seranade us with their ABBA and Smiley Virus (Mylie Cyrus) renditions ...

Cheers,
Shaun

Have you tried the BBC iPlayer on it Shaun?

I am so impressed with this feature! I now preferentially watch iplayer through the PS3 rather than the TV or the laptop.

Only PS3 problem is updates - It seems it's always updating something or another !
I player is great but for me it's slow and laggy. We can only get about 1.5mb Internet speed and the PS3 is next to the router.

Fifa 10 demo available today too.

Vidzone is always updating something or other too, it's comical.

Not heard many complaints about PS3 slim noise issues. If they think that's bad they should have heard the original!
