True. My local pubs know my drink and so it's often just there on the bar. This includes pubs I go in maybe twice a yearA skilful bar person would slip the local a beer in the middle of pulling pints for the others. I remember when one local was rammed with locals, no so any more - it's empty.
IPA and No.3 were different things. No.3 came from a hand pump whilst IPA was keg.Youngers IPA No3 was our tipple, same brewery though.(and strangely a dark 'India Pale Ale.)
This was handpump but I was sure it was IPA No3, maybe it was just No3, been a long time since I drank any though, at a guess 1984/85.IPA and No.3 were different things. No.3 came from a hand pump whilst IPA was keg.
Campari should be taken straight up and on the rocks.Yep, the 'local' probably only wanted his pint which would have taken less than a minute but I can hear the guy with the 'massive' order shouting back to his mates " So was that a half or a pint John, did you want lime in that Lager Dave and Tarquin, ice in your Campari and Soda.
You and your fancy Horsham ways.Campari should be taken straight up and on the rocks.
Nice story from one of my university pals. Three of the were very much regulars at a particular hostelry, that when one of them popped to check if he'd left his bag ther there previous evening he was somewhat perturbed that they'd pulled three pints before he'd got to the bar to ask. It was mid-morning and he was on his way to lectures - and on his own. He managed to drink them somehow
