I had a mate who kept getting punctures on his new bike (about 30 years ago) after we had done 25 miles of a Doncaster to Bridlington ride. He then got another 100 yards on then another just as we'd repaired that. It turned out to be the rim tape was in upside down. It was hard plastic with a recess for the spokes and this was cutting the tube. We had to find a bike shop then buy a new tube and and rim tape, checking the other wheel to make sure that was alright.
I always carry at least 1 spare tube and glue-less patches.
