No offence to Ms Carmody, but I have a sneaking suspicion that a goodly proportion of Tesco customers (maybe even the majority) aren't the sort to shop around.

I remember being completely shocked by people shopping in their pyjamas in Hollywood in the late 70s - but, then again, it took a while to get used to 24 hour shopping.

I'm in favour of people going down to the corner shop in their jimjams, but I've never had the nerve myself. I have approached a mini-cab driver repeatedly blowing his horn wearing nothing other than a smile and an iron bar, but that was in Battersea. They're up for anything there.

If you're leaving your house in your pyjamas to go anywhere further than the official location of your bins, you're technically worse than Hitler.

It is not clear, whether it was you or the mini-cab driver wearing nothing other than a smile.:ohmy: If it was the driver, how close did you get before realising he was in a state of undress?

I noticed quite a while ago, a small notice at our local Tescos headed 'dress code'. So this is nothing new, but I don't know if that notice has been actually enforced, up till now. IIRC it says something about wearing shirts and footwear. Haven't been back to look.

I tend to agree with your sentiments regarding Tesco. I try to avoid Tesco, but I can honestly state that I have not been beyond the bin in my jim jams / dressing gown. It has a feel of 'one flew over the cuckoo's nest' about it.

Oh, I agree. About the most outlandish thing I do is take the recycling out in my slippers.

Code in this street is that it's OK to go to the bin or the freezer in the garage in your dressing gown.

For a while we had a quite striking lady next door who used to pop out retrieve stuff from her car in her nightie. Don't think she realised the degree to which her VW's door lights illuminated her thighs!!

I somehow imagine that the Cardiff Tesco shopper in their nightwear is of a slightly different build and attraction to your neighbour. it might even improve Tesco's profit beyond its current levels if they had shapely women in their negligees at the freezers.
