Locking the cable down at the rear derailleur with the cable outer snagged on a cable stop is a favourite of mine.

Trying to figure out why a headset, complete with crown race, doesn't fit on a modern carbon fork. No matter how many tapered headsets you buy, the supplied race does not fit the fork.

Apart from assuming mechanics are sitting around doing nothing ten minutes before closing time; can repair their very badly damaged bike in time for them to go on holiday tomorrow; and that it should cost about 15€, these two come to mind:

- Bring a bike tyre to shop so we can check the size.
- Buy inner tube
- Fit onto bike incorrectly, so the tube squeezes out of tyre.
- Bring back to shop and demand a refund because "it's the wrong size"
2:
- Buy Presta/French inner tube.
- Try to pump without opening the valve.
- Bring back into shop and demand refund because "it doesn't work"
- Variation: Try to pump Presta with car pump.
