The tray will do nothing for the cooking but will make it easier to get in/out of the oven and catch any bubbling over of any juices rather than dirtying the oven.

Dave, just by way of an entirely random question about matters food related. Do you have an air fryer? They are the latest fashion/fad, but having succumbed, I must say that ours lives up to the hype, and in your situation I think you might find one very useful.

They’re great for when a family of 4 wants a half sized portion of something for one person.

never mind the foil case the main question other than what filling it is has to be is it flakey or short curst ?
