Does anyone have a recomendation for a clipless pedal for a mountain bike that is good for not creaking? Ideally, it would be a pedal you can cycle with flat shoes if need be.

What about more expensive clipless pedals - do they creak? Do all clipless pedals creak? Do they have to be packed with grease before each ride? Is it something to do with your riding style. I noticed I could sometimes reduce the creaking by twisting my knee in a bit more, but I don't want to have to do that. I might be tempted to shell out on some expensive pedals if I knew they would not creak, but I don't want to take the chance.

I've used Shimano M540, M424 & M545 SPD pedals,plus Shimano R540 and 5700 (105) SPD-SL pedals.

I've also used Speedplay Zero Stainless road pedals.

I now run Shimano Dura-Ace 7900 pedals.

Never had any squeaking issues with any of them TBH.

Is it not your pedal/cleat interface?

Lots of ideas for tracing noise HERE.
