i am due to pick up my giant defy composite 2 bike soon. I am looking at getting a turbo trainer for winter and as I am in a top floor flat it would be good if I can get a quiet one. Any suggestions. Was looking at maximum £200 ish but would go bit more if it was quiet enough. The floors are concrete. I did look at the elite muin which is £400 but seen mixed reviews and also that is very expensive.

I am having trouble locating shops that have them in stock as it would be good to try first.

Any help?

Cheers

I might be wrong but the only ones that I have seen which are any where near quiet are the ones that are direct drive ( where you don't use the back wheel as a contact point ) otherwise they are noisy , even the spokes cutting through the air make a considerable amount of noise - I have a tacx satori but it's considerably quieter if you use the mat that comes with it.

Thanks but no thanks. I think I'll pass.
As above, using a mat underneath will make a huge differance. I have one under mine and you cant hear anything in the next room. You can buy a cheap exercise mat to use. Its just as good as any.

my turbo trainer was less than £70 from ebay and works perfectly well.
