Didn't realise. OOOOOPS

Does that mean this thread is game, set and match??

If you won in 36 bats, the opponent would have been me! I never did get to grips with tennis, although a massive amount of my mis-spent youth was spent in the vicinity of furry balls and 'en tout cas'.

Besides, the tennis club drank gin and tonic and played Mastermind....blown out on both counts after the match too!

Apertif, that might be where you are going wrong. When playing tennis you need to make a play with a raquet, not a bat!

Isn't there a rule that a player can be 'defaulted' by the umpire for misconduct, at any stage of the match? Therefore the answer is, possibly, zero.

Reminds me of another puzzle of a simlar type: what is the highest possible break in snooker? And no, the answer is not 147! Assume that the usual rules of snooker are in force.
